Group is commemorating National Nachos Day, a national favorite snack at athletic events. Originally developed circa 1943, this well-known Mexican snack is topped with cheese and served with salsa. Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya came up with the original recipe for the snack after a group of U.S. Army wives came to the eatery. The dish gained millions of fans across America as it swiftly spread throughout Texas and the Southwest. St. Anne’s Cookbook, published in 1954, contains the original recipe.
